Happy Monday.
Last chance to get your guesses in. Republicans need to net six Senate seats to take the chamber.
I think we flip Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Louisiana (in the runoff), Montana, South Dakota, and West Virginia. That's eight formerly Democratic seats, so as long as we don't lose three seats, we've got some cushion. Our major vulnerability at this point for losing a seat is Kansas, which is too close to call (and assuming Orman decides to caucus with the Dems). But even if that happens, the GOP would still control the chamber with at least net seven. And we'll know who controls the chamber before the Louisiana runoff. I don't think the GOP is in danger of losing Chambliss' former seat in the Georgia runoff.
Crazy-assed guesses of the election: Scott Brown wins in New Hampshire (another flip, but not one I'm counting on); Ed Gillespie turns out to be much closer than expected in Virginia (a la Cuccinelli) and still falls short.
Programming note: I will be discontinuing my Top Headlines posts after the election. Previously-approved guestbloggers and weekend cobloggers interested in taking on this duty should email me.
