Openly-Gay Republican Candidate for Representative in San Diego, Carl DeMaio, Accused of Sexual Harassment by Fired Staffer

It's kind of weird. The former staffer, Bosnich, was fired for plagiarism. He also says that he himself is a gay man, and was told by the campaign manager that if he didn't want to be bothered by DeMaio, he shouldn't had let him know he was gay.

Bosnich claims that he was offered a cushy job and $50,000 if he would sign a non-disclosure agreement. He says he turned that down.

For his part, DeMaio says that after Bosnich was fired for plagiarism, he broke into their campaign offices, smashed computers, and cut telephony lines.* The police did investigate that break-in, and have interviewed Bosnich about it, but have not brought charges yet, and will not talk further to the media about suspects. (They say they've forwarded their investigation to the local prosecutor.)

In addition to all this, DeMaio made Bob Filner's sexual harassment allegations an issue when he ran against him for mayor in 2012.**

So is this real, or some orchestrated payback?

I literally have no idea here.

* I used the word "telephony" just because I've always dreamed of doing so, one day.

** I notice that CNN seems to be pouncing on the "Republican committed sexual harassment" with a fair amount more gusto than they jumped on the "Democrat committed sexual harassment" story, vis-a-vis Filner.

*** I'm kind of baffled why someone would sexually harass This Guy but I'm sure that's lookist or #WarOnWomen or something.
