SMOD is coming but it's gonna be awhile. 16 March, 2880 is the projected date. Maybe Yellowstone will cook off before then.
Aviation Incidents
You can add worrying about whether or not your airline pilot's prosthetic arm might fall off when you fly commercial air. His co-pilot should've been better prepared to take over, especially while in the flare for landing. Here's a good website that tracks worldwide aviation incidents. The Aviation Herald. There's even a story that starts to sound like the movie Airplane!. Sadly there's no reference to Macho Grande.
Nutshots
Ouch is an understatement.
The Oakland Mathletics
Heh. The real methodology to the A's statistical madness.
LOH-Wins (length of hair wins): This metric estimates how many wins a player adds to his team as the result of the length of his hair. For instance, you could look at the direct correlation between the length of Norris' mullet and the number of wins since its conception.
The Power of Bacon
Good God this would drive me crazy in traffic but it would be better than smelling regular exhaust. Bikin' on bacon.
Hormel has manufactured the bike pictured above, which runs on biodiesel fuel derived from bacon grease and emits bacon-scented exhaust fumes.
Wisconsin Unions
It is a shame that Scott Walker is in a tight race for his relection to governor of Wisconsin. I'm sure as soon as a Democrat takes over, they'll try to address the dropping numbers of Wisconsin public sector union members and not in a good way.

College Costs
Federal aid is likely driving college costs up. Ya think?
“The most striking thing to observe is that, not only have tuition fees risen after adjusting for inflation, but the rate of increase is rising since 1978. Federal involvement in providing student financial assistance is also growing over time… Before 1978, increases in tuition fees after adjusting for overall inflation were roughly 1 percent a year. In the era of substantial federal student aid after 1978, inflation-adjusted tuition fee increases have ratcheted up to 3-4 percent a year.”
