ISIS Slaughtering Members of Ancient Yezidi Religion

If a body falls dead without a "Zionist" in the vicinity, did it really die?

Kurdish members of Iraq’s Yezidi religious minority in Sinjar are being massacred by ISIS if they refuse to convert to Islam. They’re ancient fire-worshipers with roots in Zoroastrianism and they long predate the Koran.

Killings of this sort on a large scale are called genocide.

Sinjar is a Kurdish town, but it’s in Nineveh province outside the Kurdish autonomous region. The armed Kurdish Peshmerga forces operating there ran out of ammunition and had little choice but to retreat in the wake of the ISIS assault. Tens of thousands of civilians fled the area and are stranded atop a remote mountain without food, water, or shelter.

Michael Totten says, however, that the Kurdish Peshmergas are preparing for a counteroffensive.

I got it from Instapundit. In addition, the only angle I brought to it -- that there is no chatter about this, but endless heartache for Israeli killings -- is likewise straight from him.

ISIS is ethnically cleansing the whole region.

While much attention is being given to the destruction of Nineveh’s ancient monuments, the suffering of the province’s religious minorities at the hands of the jihadists is being given short shrift by both the media and our political leaders. Individual lives and entire civilizations are being destroyed, not in conflict – there hasn’t been much — but through the deliberate convert-or-die policies of the Islamist extremists.

To date, neither President Obama nor Secretary Kerry has mentioned the epic humanitarian and human-rights catastrophe underway in this large agricultural province that for over a millennium has been home to Christians, Yazidis, and various ethnic Sunnis and Shiites.

This is a tactic employed by Obama -- when he chooses not to do anything about a problem, he completely hushes up about the problem's existence, hoping that the press will take its cues from him and not mention the problem at all.

Thus keeping the American public in the dark about it.

This tactic has succeeded every single time. If Obama doesn't want to score political points on an issue, the press follows his lead and embargoes the issue entirely.
