Some will say this is cowardice. I'd say it's excellent situational awareness. You see if you suddenly find your self at a table with Congressman Steve "illegal aliens are drug dealers with cantaloupe-calves" King and a young woman introduces herself as an illegal alien you want to be anywhere else in the known universe rather than serve as the backdrop for whatever comes next and is splashed across the internet.

You really only need to watch the first 20 seconds to see Rand beat his hasty retreat.

I once found myself in a similar situation in college. I was introduced to a friend of a friend. She insisted that we'd met before but I was just as insistent we hadn't. In the middle of this back and forth it finally dawned on me we had. The next words out of mouth were "you were..." and they were about to be followed by "thinner and blonder then!". Now even my 20 year old brain knew that there was nothing I could say that was dumber than that but I was committed to the sentence so I said something like "wearing different clothes". Did I sound like an inbred moron? Yes, yes I did. Was it better than what I almost said? Oh very much so. So yes, Rand looks like an idiot for walking away but it's a lot better than what could have happened (in fact King did ask the woman if she was a drug dealer).

BTW- No word on if Rand has stopped walking yet or not.
