Shep Smith, who is a liberal, is nonetheless perplexed by the State Department's refusal to even mention the Malaysian crash (likely, the shoot-down).

He's not the only Obama Fan who's baffled.

Politico's Blake Hounshell seems, if not baffled, then willing to acknowledge failure:

I hope Obama at least stages a photo-op to tell us that he's not interested in photo-ops.

So we have a choice to believe this is either due to Obama's determination to manipulate the public into not noticing that alarming things are afoot, or his need to personally avoid difficult matters because he Just. Can't. Cope. Any. Longer.

I pray to God that it's the first one.
