VA Whistleblowers to Testify About Retaliations & Punishments by VA Management Before House Veterans Affairs Committee
Dr. Katherine Mitchell up now.
Scott Davis alleges, among other things, that the Agency was directed to use much of its manpower to send out Obamacare sign-up fliers.
The congressmen are just giving their own opening statements now. But the whistleblowers will soon be testifying.
Video at the link.
So far, the VA itself is "examining" 67 claims of retaliation against whistleblowers.
Frex:
Meanwhile, a doctor at the veterans hospital in Phoenix says she was harassed and humiliated after complaining about problems at the hospital, where dozens of veterans died while on waiting lists for appointments.
Dr. Katherine Mitchell said the hospital's emergency room was severely understaffed and couldn't keep up with "the dangerous flood of patients" there. Dr. Mitchell, a former co-director of the Phoenix VA hospital's ER, said in testimony prepared for the House committee that strokes, heart attacks, internal head bleeding and other serious medical problems were missed by staffers "overwhelmed by the glut of patients."
Her complaints about staffing problems were ignored, Dr. Mitchell said, and she was transferred, suspended and reprimanded.

Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., got lost on his way to a Senate Republican luncheon on Tuesday and ended up at the Democrats' gathering instead, the Hill reported.
The Mississippi senator, who recently won an intensely ugly primary election against Tea Party-backed candidate Chris McDaniel, apparently forgot where he was going while navigating the halls of Congress.
"After exiting a Senate elevator on the wrong floor" Cochran re-boarded, the report notes. "He then found the right floor but turned away from the Senate GOP luncheon, a few yards from the elevator, to stroll the opposite direction, arriving at the Democrats' weekly gathering a few hallways away."
He's going to spend his term in the senate with his directional signal blinking. (To the left, @peteySDee says.)
Preview: Via @NRO, Jonah Goldberg notes one doctor's story. The doctor had attempted to point out problems at the VA. The nurses revolted against her by refusing to follow her orders in the Operating Room.
As he says: People must go to jail.
