World Cup Thread: German Defeats US 1-0; Portugal Defeats Ghana 2-1; US Advances to Next Round

I've been posting updates in the sidebar, but it's getting ridiculous.

Just a minute or three left, and the US still seems incapable of actually working the ball up the field. They can boot it upfield, and almost immediately lose the ball to German defenders, but they can't work it up with controlled passing.

They will either have to get desperate and start blitzing upfield or be content with a 0-1 loss which will probably, but not definitely, qualify them for the next round.

They seem to be willing to do the latter. That, or that they're still exhausted from the Rumble in the Jungle three days go.

They got it into German territory and got two decent shots on goal, but both failed.

Game Over. US loses 0-1. However, Portugal just defeated Ghana, and that means the US will take 2nd place and advance.

Triumph has been goofing on soccer for two days; Part 2 is now up.
