Team GOP Very Excited That A Married Man Who Texted A Photo Of His Junk To A Much Younger Woman Endorsed Thad Cochran
I guess the GOP has decided the best way to close the gender gap is to tout the endorsement of a guy who is a combination of Anthony Weiner and Bill Clinton.
In case you'd forgotten the story about Favre, a married father, texting an employee of the Jets a photo of his junk, here's a refresher. After other women turned up accusing new GOP star Favre of inappropriate activity the NFL investigated and fined him for violating the league's personal conduct policy.
Favre doesn't seem to be an overly political guy. In fact, his only other campaign donation I could find was to a...wait for it...Democrat.
Seems strange that all of a sudden Favre is taking an interest GOP politics, huh? Well Erick Erickson has a theory why the former QB might be willing to do Thad Cochran a solid.
The brother of former NFL quarterback and Mississippi native Brett Favre has been pardoned by Haley Barbour, whose last day as governor was Tuesday.
State records released Tuesday show Earnest Scott Favre had his record cleared in the 1996 death of his best friend, Mark Haverty. Scott Favre was among dozens of people pardoned or given early release in Barbour’s final days in office. The Republican left office Tuesday, at the end of his second term.
Barbour and most of his politically connected family are big supporters of Cochran.
Cochran BTW is pretty excited about getting Democrats to vote for him in the runoff on Tuesday.
Cochran, the first Republican elected to a statewide post in Mississippi since Reconstruction, on Wednesday said his campaign hasn’t tried to buy any votes. But he didn’t deny efforts to lure Democratic voters.
He said he hopes, “the more the merrier will prevail in this election.”
“I used to be a Democrat,” Cochran noted, referring to decades ago, before his first election to the House in 1972. “My parents were active in the Democratic Party. We made changes in our views about some of the policies of the parties, and over time they evolved into different parties. ... I’m a Republican member of the U.S. Senate, and it’s a good thing for the state that I have been.”
Cochran noted that only those who voted in the Democratic primary on June 3 are prohibited from voting in Tuesday’s runoff.
Elections are about winning so it's hard to knock Cochran for doing anything he can to win. But just remember all of this the next time Team GOP demands loyalty, bitches about conservatives "helping Democrats" and accusing insurgent candidates of shady affiliations.
