Gaming Thread
Well, this thread still isn't as relevant compared to the gun thread but the news still comes.
gaming below....
In their Nintendo Direct, they announced the 2DS which has no 3D, contains one screen (plastic to make it the same aspect ratio of the two screens on the 3DS) and with slightly better battery time. Out on October 12th for $129.99.
Also they announced the launch dates to the upcoming Link to the Past sequel and the next entry of the Mario Party series. Both hitting on November 22nd.
And on the Wii U side, they also announced that the Wii U basic edition is no more and the premium version dropping to $300 on September 20th. They also announced that the Wind Waker HD remake will hit the eShop sooner than retail. Game will hit on the September 20th and the disc copy on October 4th.
And it wouldn't be a Zelda game release without a themed console to go with it (also out on the 20th) and it looks really sexy.
Gamestop already has it up for preorder. Comes with the game, console and a ebook version of the really Hyrule Historia book. Would have been nice if they threw in the Ganondorf statue that comes with the collector's edition but still a good bundle as is.
NEWS
Well, if Capcom won't make a new Megaman game, time for Keiji Inafune to hit up Kickstarter for a spiritual sucessor called Mighty No. 9
New trailer for GTA V (cool song)
Though I highly doubt it will come to the US, a new instalment of Jam With The Band series was announced called, Band Bros. P for the 3DS. Kinda surprised that Intelegent Systems (Fire Emblem) are making it as a vocaloid game isn't in the repatoire but it should be interesting.
No Monster Hunter for you, Vita owners :(
Microsoft still blaming localizations for the reason why they had to cut down on launch countries. Don't think I believe that considering the size of the SOC but then it does kinda tie into....
Albert Penello (Director of Product Planning) saying that 10 of the 13 countries will have at least some voice with 5 of those having the full kit and kaboddle with rush on getting everything inline. In an earlier post from him in the thread, he came out and said that the walk back on what they originally planned with the system completely threw them into disarray
Day 1: "We don't ship a game at EA that is offline"
Day 2: We totally ship games that are offline
Altus picks up distro rights to the upcoming Kickstarter backed Telsa Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure. Get your classic FMV fill sometime early next year.
May not have sold that well in Japan but nice to see that Ni No Kuni sold 1.4 million copies worldwide so far (game is great btw)
New Releases
Total War: Rome 2 - It's that time again, a new Total War game is upon us and with Creative Assembly going back to doing sequels to their older games, this one focuses on Rome again. I thought they bit off more than they could chew with the American Revolution games but Shogun 2 was a return to form so I have high hopes for this one.
Atelier Meruru Plus: The Alchemist of Arland 3 - The Atelier series, an interesting RPG with a healthy dose of shop management, may have ended last year in the US but that doesn't mean it can't get a Vita port. The PS3 version was more of the same of the last two games but I didn't think that was a bad thing and this one comes with new stuff so I'll probably end up picking this up (and it's not like I'm swamped with games on my Vita). If you're curious, though you will miss stuff, you don't exactly have to play the first two games to get enjoyment out of it
Diablo III finally comes to the consoles. I thought it was just okay on the PC but hey, it's a Blizzard game on the consoles and that doesn't happen that often.
Castle Of Illusion - In the year where people are re-releasing HD versions of classing sidescrollers, it would be remiss if this game didn't get on that action. Haven't played it since it came out but I remember loving it, even with it's cheap deaths
Rayman Legends - What was once a Wii U exclusive is now hitting every platform under the sun. I would say that I would hold off on the Vita version as people are saying that it's missing levels.
Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons - In their first game since the Syndicate reboot with EA, Starbreeze is back with a downloadable game. This thing has been picking up almost all positive reveiws. It does look interesting, though comments of it being 3 hours and can be heavy handed at times is a bit of a turnoff.
Outlast - Though it's been getting good hands on previews, this game still only has a week before it gets drowned out by Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs which is a damn shame as we don't get many good horror games.
that's it, see you next week
