Sunday Gun Thread
Andrew was late to his sister in law's wedding again so he's a bit in the dog house today. You're stuck with me. Here we go.
Compare and contrast.
A Springfield Model 1892-99 (no guessing today) in .30-40.
Or a Spanish Mauser in 7x57mm.
You get to pick.
Why the rifle matters in a fight.
You shoulda picked the Mauser. Better accuracy with a smokeless cartridge and better penetration at longer distances. This is the American rifle that was preferred, at up to 800 yards. A Lee Navy Rifle Model 1895 in 6mm.
Very accurate up to 800 yards.
The Marines picked that one. Good call Marines. A Marine can kill you with his thumb, but it might take a half hour or so. Much better to shoot you dead at 800 yards with a superior firearm.
