Saturday Night Live Cuts Groaningly Unfunny Hagel Sketch, and Yet Keeps the Rest
Have you seen what they cut? The show pretends that Republicans' problem with Hagel is that he made the innocuous claim that "Israel's and America's interests will not always line up perfectly."
They pretend the problem isn't his frequent talk of a "Jewish lobby."
The sketch died at dress rehearsal -- you can hear pins not just dropping but merely contemplating giving gravity a spin -- so they cut it.
But these political complaints mask a more serious problem -- Saturday Night Live's problem isn't political bias, it's its failure to deliver anything resembling comedy week after after week.
