Al Gore Attempts High School Science. Hilarity Ensues.
Anthony Watts at Watt's Up With That picks on the fat kid.
Readers may recall my previous essay where I pointed out how Mr. Gore’s Climate 101 Video, used in his “24 hours of climate reality”, had some serious credibility issues with editing things to make it appear as if they had actually performed the experiment, when they clearly did not.
Some time elapsed, but Watts gathered up the equipment necessary to attempt to replicate Gore's experiment. This is also known as the "scientific method" but, as a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize with the equally fraudulent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), it's not surprising Gore doesn't understand this.
In this case, it appears Gore used the IPCC "pal review" system, where the only people allowed to review your work are other Global Warming true believers because shut up.
In this case, Bill Nye the "Science" Guy had the poor luck and bad judgment to team up with ManBearPig.
Below the fold is a brief and non-technical explanation of the fundamental mistake Gore and Nye made.
The way an actual greenhouse works is by trapping infrared radiation. Glass is transparent to visible light, but not to infrared light, as we see below.

Mr. Gore was attempting to demonstrate this effect in his setup, but there’s an obvious problem: he used infrared heat lamps rather than visible light lamps. Thus, it seems highly likely that the glass jars would block the incoming infrared, and convert it to heat. That being the case, the infrared radiative backscattering effect that makes up the greenhouse effect in our atmosphere couldn’t possibly be demonstrated here in the Climate 101 video.
Gore apparently thinks glass works like a two-way mirror or something. But ... no, infrared light is reflected by both sides of a piece of glass.
You'd think that someone who made millions off climate charlatanism would at least be good at it. But I guess all it really takes is name recognition, an aversion to facts and a boatload of useful idiots.
Read the whole thing and watch the videos if you're interested in this kind of thing. It is a truly masterful piece of work by Watts, who didn't just stop at explaining why the experiment couldn't work the way Gore and Nye claimed but actually attempted to replicate the experiment anyway. Science!
There's also a bit of PhotoShop thermometer fakery by Team Fraud over there that you have to see to believe.

All of this is, of course, perfectly in keeping with the larger fraud perpetrated by Gore and the IPCC.
