Of Course: McConnell Picks Burr Over Tea Partier DeMint For Important Finance Committee Post

The seat is left abandoned due to Ensign's resignation. In fairness, Burr is slightly more senior than DeMint, but can we get a little input on these spending committees?

Correction: Commenters point out that Burr has a 91% ACU rating and so I shouldn't have called him a squish.

I shouldn't have. And I should have looked that up. I've now deleted that dubious characterization.

My belief he's squishy comes from the Amnesty Armageddon, when Burr was always one of those Senators we had to keep putting up a phone number for because he would not commit to voting against amnesty.

Maybe not so much squishy as in line with the establishment.

Oh, more: "Laurie David's Cervix" (I think this is an alias) points out Burr is a cosponsor of Toomey's deficit reduction plan. So I guess I must retreat still further.
