Prosecutors Considering Death Penaly For Abortion-Doc Gosnell
Wait -- They Will Be Seeking The Death Penalty?
CNN actually calls him an abortion doc in the headline, which you may think is a no-brainer, but in fact the left has been pushing the idea that he wasn't an abortionist at all, because they decided to define abortion as "not something Gosnell did," or something.
I doubt they'll seek the death penalty. The same political nonsense that enabled the murderer will wind up keeping him from being aborted himself.
But one can always hope.
Prosecutors "did preserve the right to seek the death penalty at a later date by giving a notice of aggravating circumstances in court today," said Tasha Jamerson, spokeswoman for the district attorney's office, in a statement released Wednesday. The circumstances in this case are the deaths of people under age 12 and multiple murder charges
"Reserving the right" is an appeasing move. No one can say they're not seeking the death penalty, because they're "reserving the right." And yet-- not actually seeking it.
The aggravating circumstances are already well known. If the current circumstances are not aggravating enough for the death penalty, what additional information do they think will come to light?
Update: As my article had a date-stamp of 58 minutes ago, I thought it was the freshest word.
Ed at Hot Air seems to believe the death penalty is being sought, not "might be."
Looking at his cites, I find it sort of ambiguous -- one of his cites talks about considering the death penalty, not having made that decision. Another cite talks about delaying the decision.
I think for once I'm right.
AP Says Seeks: Maybe I'm wrong.
I think I'm probably right, though, because my cite was more specific on the point.
