Liberals: Hey Let's Elevate the Tone And/Or Call For The Assassination of Sarah Palin

Awful. They're agitating for this. Guilty of precisely the crime they charge their political enemies with -- and they're proud of it.

See, this proves they're "tough."

Here's the thing: I actually do believe that incitement can cause violence. I believed that for eight years with the constant chant of Bush = Murderer and "WANTED" posters for Bush's staff. And Kilborn's "Snipers Wanted" and the Florida Democrats calling for Rumsfeld's execution.

So I understand the liberals growing worried about this.

But I can't forgive it. Because for eight years I attempted in vain to get the MFM to take these incitements seriously and tell their confederates in the left to chill out and stop agitating for someone to get killed.

And I cannot accept the proposition that it's just good old fashioned politickin' to agitate for the murders of figures on the right but it's a national emergency when unhinged people on the right do the same.

I think both right and left need to patrol their more excitable members and tell them to tamp down on the inciting language. But the left does not accept this; the media does not accept this. They do not view this as an actual problem which threatens real life people, but only as a points-scoring contest to win a news cycle.

It doesn't matter how many lefties praise, in advance, Sarah Palin's would-be assassin, thus elevating, nontrivially, the risk that some excitable member of the left will accept their offer of deeming him a Hero of the People if only he does what all his political comrades wish him to do. The media will take no notice. They refuse to note bad behavior on the left-- it's not part of The Narrative, and would harm The Cause, so they pretend it doesn't exist.

It does exist, and it's been existing in hateful, murderous "dark chatter" (as the left says about Dallas '63, despite the fact that Kennedy was killed by an avowed Marxist, one of "theirs") since 2000.

I would welcome a right/left initiative to cool off the hot angry talk on the internet where every political problem soon is matched with the "solution" of political violence by some asshole who wants to show how upset and angry (and therefore authentic and full of integrity) he or she is.

But I've been welcoming exactly that for ten years now and so far, no takers from the left.
