LA "Missile" Update: Possibly Not A Missile After All (BUMPED-DoD Statement Denying Missile Launch Added)
Above the post update:
The Department of Defense finally released a statement and they got nothing. No foreign launches tracked by NORAD, no US launches occured, no evidence on FAA radars and no pilot reports (other than the news helicopter report that started it all).
Let the conspiracy theories begin!
Original Post:
Following up on my earlier post...
NORTHCOM says it wasn't a 'foreign' missile launch. It would be more definitive if they said it wasn't a missile launch at all or at least that they didn't see any launch. I'm guessing they left that out since it could theoretically be a private launch that didn't register as big enough for their systems to see.
Also, the FAA in SOCAL says they see missile launches in the area on their radar all the time but nothing turned up during the time in question.
Best guess at this point is the optical illusion theory (scroll down to end of post).
*I updated the headline because "probably" was too strong of a term. We still don't know for sure.
The video is below the fold. It really looks like a missile. I gotta say, I was skeptical of the contrail theory, then kind of bought it but watching that again? I'm back on missile.
More: Via "dave g." in the comments another vote for contrails.
