Jim McKenna: Gee, No One's Running Against Martha Coakley For AG? The Do-Nothing Massachusetts Republican Party Isn't Even Putting a Name On the Ballot? Okay, I'll Run Then, Write-In
Finally a write-in campaign we should get behind.
That's right, no one bothered to even run against Martha Coakley, last seen being trounced by Scott Brown, for her currently-held AG seat. They figured she was just too much of a political dynamo to even bother contesting.
Jim McKenna saw things differently. Since the Republicans, literally, ran no one at all -- the ballot slot would be blank -- he figured he'd run write-in. He needed 10,000 signatures; he got 27,700.
When I was up in Massachusetts, while people seemed pretty high on some of the Congressional challengers, it was Jim McKenna drawing most of the talk.
Correction! Jim McKenna is on the ballot now, thanks to his write-in campaign, which put him there. Apologies; I thought I understood the situation from chattering with people but I didn't.
Some other cool news:
Anna Little within one (1!!!) of Frank Pallone in NJ-6? Frank Pallone is an 11-term incumbent, but Chris Christie won his district -- and was recently seen campaigning for her (in which a moron's sign makes an appearance, at the 8:45-9:45 mark). And Christie's gained support, of course, since then.
Can she win then? She can!
Nick Popaditch, Fallujah hero (and he has the scars to prove it), is running against some jackass career politician in CA-51.
Another likely gain in Massachusetts as Jeffrey Perry's within a couple of incumbent Keating in MA-10. and only needs a little help to win.
