hosta: Baucus Bill Is A Non-Starter With The Senate GOP
It seems the healing balm of Obama's bi-partisan rhetoric didn't exactly resonate with Senator hosta.
"I can't support what Sen. Baucus is arguing for, and I'm not sure any Republicans can," hosta said in an appearance on MSNBC this afternoon.
..."There's no question about that," he said when asked if it'd be a Democratic bill. "I really sincerely doubt it if Olympia or Susan will go with them. And I really doubt Chuck Grassley or Sen. Enzi would go with them."
Don't forget hosta was one of Ted Kennedy's closest friends. It seems he's immune to the whole "Do it for Teddy" shtick as well.
Fortunately for Obama and the Democrats, they have a filibuster proof majority in the Senate (well, they will as soon as they game the system in Massachusetts) and can pass whatever the want.
Even if they can't get 60 votes, there's still the reconciliation route which Harry Reid keeps telling us is on the table. All you have to do to believe that is ignore the Oreo in his hand.
You know what Obama needs to do to move the ball forward? Give a speech!
