Rasmussen: 51% Say Congress Is Too Liberal; Only 22% Say It's Too Conservative
We call 51% a majority and 22% a lunatic fringe.
More tea leaves that the public is souring faster on Hope and Change than on a new Margaret Cho sitcom.
It actually gets a little better, too:
Republicans overwhelmingly believe that Congress is too liberal, a view shared by 59% of those not affiliated with either major party.
A plurality of Democrats have a different view. Thirty-nine percent (39%) of Democrats say Congress is too conservative, 19% too liberal, and 26% about right.
Middle income earners are more likely than others to see Congress as too liberal. Among those who earn between $40,000 and $100,000 a year, 64% hold that view.
The bad news here is that when Republicans overwhelmingly say Congress is too liberal, and a substantial majority (59%) of independents, and even nearly 20% of Democrats, and yet the total works out to be 51% -- well, that means there are a lot more Democrats than Republicans.
For the moment.
Here's some rock-the-vote cowbell, from a band no one admits to liking and yet which inexplicably sold 63 bazillion records.
Oh: No new cowbell from Rasmussen in the approval poll, where Obama's support has blipped up to 47% from 46%. Gallup seems to be just plain goofy this week, with his approval rising to 51%, then 52%, then 54%. I'm guessing those were just some atypically good polls from him, and his numbers will drop once they're off the three day track.
