Welcome to the Meatscape (Mætenloch)
Genghis may have come close to jumping the bacon shark, but I just wanted to point out that bacon is more than just a tasty food group - it's also an artistic medium.
Yes, nearly everything in this picture is made out of meat in one form or another but mostly bacon. Mmmm delicious bacon.
This is the work of Carl Warner, a British artist who's known for building incredible pictures out of vegetables and meat. You can see more of his work here.
No doubt there are critics out there that will sneer at these meat landscapes. But my mother who is an artist-type herself taught me early on that most art produced is crap and no matter if critics are gaga over it, if it doesn't appeal to you, it's still crap. So don't waste your time trying to appreciate art that doesn't appeal to you - just move on to what you do like. And I like meat.
Plus I divide most art I see into three categories:
1. Something I can do now
2. Something I could have done if I had the inclination, dedication, and a little OCD
3. Something I would never have conceived of much less done - true genius
I think Warner's work falls into the third group. A thousand morons could stare at a thousand tons of bacon, but I doubt any of them would ever think to make skies and rivers out of it. Me, I would've thought we're gonna need a bigger skillet and maybe one day if I'm good, I'll go to the big meatscape in the sky.
And here is another picture of his so you can see what you have to look forward to in the afterlife. Well some of you at least.
