Overnight Open Thread. Yin/Yang Edition (genghis)
Slightly bumped: I tacked on a link to the documentary for last night’s open thread for the documentary Speed and Angels. Watched it for free at Hulu dot com. (You have to suffer through a few commercials, but since they’re all from the armed forces, they almost seem like they’re part of the documentary) A couple of commenters last night thought it was a little PC, but if it is, it’s very subtle. The filmmakers don’t seem to have an agenda besides showing you 90 minutes of awesomeness. One of the 2 naval aviators they follow through qualifying is not of the male persuasion. But when she gets her first shot off a carrier deck, we learn that she’s got the language down pat. Excellent video and even excellenter video from the cockpit cameras.
In other breaking news, since MicroPatch launched their groundbreaking/wtf? program “Songsmith” last month, a number of bizarre mashups/remixes have popped up on YouTube. Gizmodo has helpfully assembled some of the stranger ones in a single location. Skip the top one, which relates to Unicorn One and doesn’t show off the spectacular mess you can create with this program. Scroll down to the Police’s “Roxanne.” Or, If that’s not enough, here’s the most beautiful rendition of David Lee Roth singing “Runnin’ With the Devil” you’ve ever heard: Here.
Once you’ve heard it…you cannot unhear it. Possible suggestion below:
While that won’t rid you of that abomination stuck in your head, it may well prevent future incidents like this from happening again. Then again, you shoulda’ been prepared for all contingencies.
