How Much Have US Exports to Iran Really Risen?
Eh. Not so much.
There are good reasons not to sell aircraft parts to Iran. There's aren't many good reasons not to ship medicines and ag products there.
Or bras and smokes.
Winning hearts and minds, with Marlboros and Maidenforms.
Economic sanctions, to be at all useful, have to target the leadership of the nation. The AP relies on a general lack of willingness on the part of the reader to consider this, and the intellectual laziness that keeps one from asking "well, what were trade levels like 15 years ago prior to the sanctions"?
