Crazed Gun Nut Kills One, Gravely Wounds Another in Subway-Restaurant Slaughterfest Shoot-'em-Up

The dangers of gun ownership the right doesn't like talking about -- here, for example, two respectable and upstanding robbers busted into a Subway brandishing weapons and terrifying the staff when a 71-year-old vigilante, most likely suffering from "White Rage" and psychopathic dementia, callously opened fire upon them.

A casualty no one mentions -- civility. Not to mention racial justice.

Gadson's grandparents told Local 10 on Thursday that Lovell was wrong for pulling the trigger.

"He should not have taken the law in his hands," said Rosa Jones, Gadson's grandmother.

It should be noted that virtually every jurisdiction permits the use of deadly force against those unlawfully offering deadly force themselves, particularly when there is a substantial threat of bodily injury.

Her husband, Ivory Jones, also condemned the media for its portrayal of Lovell's actions.

"I don't condone what they did, (but) I definitely don't condone the news people making him out to seem like they're making a hero out of this man because he shot somebody down," he said.

But Lovell's neighbor said he made the right decision.

"He did the right thing," said Wendi Hill. "I mean, I was glad that it was them that got shot and not him."

Making this shooting all the more poignant -- both men were attending vocational/technical training school, studying Advanced Truck-Hijacking with hopes of one day earning the coveted Electronic Security Deactivation certificate. (America trails the developed world in highly-skilled, highly-prized workers with the technical know-how to disable sophisticated electronic alarms. They had hopes and dreams of reaching the upper echelons of armed robbery, perhaps even rising to the level of ganster Triggerman -- dreams now cut short by a lunatic with a gun.

Incidentally, the demented racist spree-killer was an ex-Marine, further proving that you can take a man out of the Marines, but you can't take the murderer out of the man. Sorry, I meant "take the Marine out of the man." I make that mistake all the time.
