Redneck Rampage Round-Up Redux

I've been putting this off but here goes.

Obama's explanation, Take 2:

"Somethin' that everyone knows is true."

His claim here is clever: That he didn't mean people "cling" to their religion and guns and hatred of people who don't look like them because they're bitter due to being economic dead-enders; no, what he meant was that because people feel their government doesn't work, they turn to those institutions that do work, like church, and family.

And... guns?

And... hatred of immigrants and swarthy types that ain't quite white?

As clever as the first part of this claim is, he didn't mention "family" at all in his initial remarks, and it's daft to characterize guns as a "tradition" that people turn to and lean in on in difficult times. I mean, yes, sure, guns are good for self-defense and hunting, but no one loses a job and then turns to his shotgun and says "Baby, I could use a hug."

And it makes no fucking sense whatsoever to claim xenophobia, virulent nativism and racism are "traditions" and "institutions" that "work" even when government fails us -- "traditions" and "institutions," incidentally, on a par with religion.

Is Obama really trying to sell me that bullshit? That when he seemed to be denigrating small-town Americans as shoeless simpletons waving their guns and crosses in the air, as well as their "Mexicans, and Irish, Go Home!" placards, he was really praising them for doing so, for falling back on the wholesome religion, and wholesome hatreds, that sustain them through dark times?

A clever enough answer to satisfy the New York Times, of course, but they are the Paper of Record Retard, so it's not exactly a tough sale there. Tom Maguire notes in this link-and-analysis rich rundown that the New York Times' original write-up on the contretemps read thus:

MUNCIE, Ind. — Senator Obama on Saturday rebutted criticism that has enveloped his campaign over a comment he made last Sunday that many working-class voters are angry and bitter over economic conditions in America, and he told an audience here that his words were not meant to be insulting.

Many dispirited voters believe politicians will not solve their problems, Mr. Obama argued, so they base their votes on issues like religion, gun rights or same-sex marriage rather than voting for their economic interests.

Note the lack of a "cling to religion and guns" quote, or cling to suspicions of people who don't look like them -- the Times simply reports Barack Obama's spin as to what he meant as what was actually, factually said.

Um, that is egregious bias. There is a live and real and legitimate dispute over his meaning, and in fact the record itself is not on Obama's side. To lede the story accepting his claim as to what his statements meant as dispositive is not reportage, it is the New York Times simply acting as an unpaid campaign committee for Obama.

However, the New York Times has since at least elevated the "cling to religion and guns" quote from the buried-past-the-jump last-few-paragraphs position to the second paragraph, so at least NYT readers can now at least read for themselves the actual language in question before immediately deciding Barack Obama is right and most Pennsylvanians resemble "Blaster" from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, except that he's a raccoon-huntin' moonshine-runner, and oh yeah, he also has Kuato from Total Recall growin' out of a neck-boil.

And except Kuato doesn't have ESP, he has ESR, Extra-Sensory Retardation. His stupidity extends all the way to the Astral Fucking Plane, yo.

(Incidentally, Blaster would have Kuato lanced at the vet (the vet takes chickens in barter, as well as gold filings ripped out of the mouths of murdered city folk) except he needs the extra disability check he gets off his semi-sentient neck boil every month to fund his meth-lab. Plus, Kuato can psionically play a mean washboard in Blaster's combination Jug-band/KKK Chapter.)

Much more below the fold. This post sort of got out of hand.

Allah is pissed off -- which is always fun -- and is hitting the "false consciousness"/"opiate of the masses" meme I'm trying to spread so hard I don't have to exert myself once again. He also trashes Obama's spin for the pile of shabby lies it is.

Obama's answer, again, is nice and clever but makes no fucking sense and even if it made more sense: I still would know it's utter bullshit.

Captain Ed meantime focuses on the cute-but-vapid attempt by Obama to pretend the entire controversy is about whether or not those shotgun-pumpin' Bible-thumpin' Ned-Beatty-rumpin' Pennsylvanian pinheads are "bitter" or not, dishonestly eliding over the truly offensive and impolitic parts of his remarks.

Who the fuck cares if someone calls Pennsylvanians bitter? I'm bitter, and I don't even have to live in Pennsylvania. I can only imagine how bitter they must be.

But I think the more important part of the statement concerns these Keystone Cretins' childish belief in God as a psychological bandaid to keep them from hanging themselves in the smokehouse due to remorse at burning down a black church filled with gay lambada dance instructors.

The level-headed Anwyn, meanwhile, is also breathing fire, a canary in the coalmine as to just how risible this condescending douchenozzle's assholery really was.

Once again, you’re not supposed to count on your family or your faith, you’re supposed to count on your government. He simply cannot fathom the concept that people do not believe this is the proper role of government, that nobody in their right mind wants to count on government for their needs and wants. So he says “I could have said it better,” but then goes on to say the same damn thing in the same damn way because he simply cannot believe it couldn’t be the truth.

This is the real Barack Obama, believe it. People counting on their families and God is not appropriate; these things are merely the refuge of the bitter. This is why his chosen church and his mentor married-him baptized-his-kids pastor are not about God but about race and class–because that’s all he believes in. People don’t vote their class identity not because they don’t believe this is an appropriate basis for choosing a government, because they believe individual rights are a better foundation, but merely because they’re embittered and don’t believe voting on class would change the class structure.

I am only partly kidding when I note the fastest way to infuriate a woman is to try to tell her what she really thinks, and Obama's statement just told 100 million voting women what they really think isn't what they think they think. Actually this is pretty infuriating for most people; our Lord and Savior Barack Obama just told us everything we think we believe in is actually just a great fat lie put into our heads by Insidious Forces seeking to Mislead Us with Distractions and Divisions.

And yeah, seriously: Watch the video again, and yes, once again Barack Obama sagely informs us all that something we're concerned with is a phony issue that merely "distracts" and "divides" us from the truly important issue, which is electing Barack Hussein Obama President of the United States.

He went there again? Oh Hell's yeah he did. He always goes there.

Because he's internalized the Marxist cant of "false consciousness" whereby there is only one imperative -- uniting the workers to smash the oppressor state -- and anything that undermines that mission is a lie put into your head by the Running Dog Capitalists and Ruling Elites.

Here's what's important in Barack Hussein Obama's worldview:

1) Race

2) Class

3) President Barack Hussein Obama

Here's what's a "distraction" according to Barack Hussein Obama:

1) God, culture, tradition, taxes, love of country, duty, national security, or whatever the fuck else you morons think about when you're not whittlin' an oak branch into a crude sap with which to randomly beat homeless immigrants and/or staying up all hours of the night ordering six-hundred "tactical folders" and a limited-edition collector's "Glaive" from Krull on that late-night knife-collections sales show

He honestly can't help it -- because he is, since an early age, an unreconstructed Marxist. As Anwyn says, This is what he really believes.

Finally, Suitably Flip offers the special Criterion Edition of Deliverence, with Barack Obama digitally inserted for your viewing displeasure.
