Wow: Intelligence (Snicker) Analysts Threatened To Illegally Leak NIE If Bush Did Not Release It Publically (?)

Update: Consider the source. This appeared on Think Progress, not the gold standard of sources. However, I find it plausible that these "heroes" are hooked into the nutroots and would brag about their victory.

Update Updated: Bryan is reconsidering this. I did too once I checked out the sourcing. But I'm still not ready to say it's untrue. After all, it comes from a lefty blog, which, as the MSM teaches us, is a trustworthy source to cite.

But seriously, it does explain the surprise release of this rather neatly.

So yeah, the sourcing is sketchy, but I'm inclined to think (say 60/40) that the rumor is right.

Updated Update to the Update: Actually it seems to have originated with a very liberal guy who says he's a retired Air Force officer military intelligence officer and Green Beret. It's plausible (assuming he is what he says he is) he'd hear such a rumor from like-minded idiots in the intelligence (chuckle) services.

It's time for a Saturday Night Massacre. Not only did they turn in shoddy piece of hyperpartisan work written to force their policy preferences on the nation, but they followed that up by threatening to break the law if the President -- the elected President -- did not bow to their wishes.

Throwing them in jail isn't realistic, but Bush is truly a lame duck if he doesn't have the stones to fire a cadre of leftist apologists for Islamic radicals acting in such a brazenly insubordinate -- hell, coercive and blackmailing -- manner.

Fire them. Fire them all. Or strip them of their security clearances and keep them on salary, but in a new office tasked to the critical mission of tracking Canadian geese migration. Lock them away from every getting their hands on classified information to misuse, twist, cherry-pick and illegally conspire to reveal ever again.

As Keith "Bathtub Boy" Olberman might say: Get your house in order, Sir, or resign.
