Al Jazeera Reports that USAF Bombed Syria in August...with Nukes!
Israel has kept a pretty tight lid on just what happened in Syria back in August. The unofficial story is that the Israeli's conducted an impressive air assault on Iranian-sponsored nuclear facilities in Syria after disabling air defenses using teams on the ground.
Now the Jerusalem Post reports on another theory:
The September 6 raid over Syria was carried out by the US Air Force, the Al-Jazeera Web site reported Friday. The Web site quoted Israeli and Arab sources as saying that two US jets armed with tactical nuclear weapons carried out an attack on a suspected nuclear site under construction.
The sources were quoted as saying that Israeli F-15 and F-16 jets provided cover for the US planes.
The sources added that each US plane carried one tactical nuclear weapon and that the site was hit by one bomb and was totally destroyed.
I have long believed that the use of tactical nuclear devices should not be outright prohibited (or even unofficially prohibited). It helps us if our adversaries think the U.S. is willing to use nuclear force.
It's unfortunate that Iran probably knows all about the raid on Syria. It wouldn't have hurt to let the mullahs think we're already bombing nuclear facilities.
Update [Ace]: Why this absurd claim? David W. suggests an answer:
Al-jeezera says America hit the Syrians with a nuke. Why?
So, that when the world comes in to review what happened and they find nuclear traces all over the place they can say it is America’s fault. That America used a nuke and hit the building, not the building got hit and had nukes in it and it spread around on the ground.
They are trying to justify the reason for trace nuke on the ground and blame America at the same time.
Will trace nuke be found? You bet, but now it will not be their fault now it will be America’s fault.
