Creator of Spawn Will Take Dorothy Back to Oz?
Here’s some news for all you Friends of Dorothy: Oz may be coming back to the big screen. Todd McFarlane (Spawn) and Josh Olsen (A History of Violence) have been tapped by Warner Bros. to produce and write the story.
McFarlane has had an edgy S&M Dorothy line of toys out for the last few years. His version of Dorothy will be “much closer to the Ripley from ‘Alien’ than a helpless singing girl." That’s a nice goal, but probably unattainable, since Ripley is the most awesome film heroine of all time. I applaud McFarlane’s effort, though.
Olsen is a little less enthusiastic about equipping Dorothy with a ball gag. He says, “I want this to be ‘Harry Potter’ dark, not ‘Seven’ dark."
