Ahmedinijad unequivocally denies supplying arms to Taliban
Speaking during his first ever visit to Afghanistan, the Iranian president forcefully denied any Iranian involvement in supplying weapons to insurgents.
"The same allegation are made in Iraq. They are saying that they discover some weapons," Ahmedinejad said at a news conference with Afghan President Hamid Karzai. "What is the reason why they are saying such things? Iran is a big country. I have serious doubts about this issue".
He looked to an aide. "Have you heard anything about this? Not me. I seriously doubt that we are doing that. Do you not seriously doubt it as well? I mean, I'm the President of Iran, I think I would know... that is a big deal is it not"?
He then asked another aide "Does that sound like something you think we would do? You are shaking your head no, that is no, right? Ok".
Looking back at the reporter, he finished with "I do not think so, but I will check and get back to you".
