Demagoguery as Sales Technique

We're gonna tell the bigots to shut up!
Someone really needs to dust off his Dale Carnegie.

There are a number of "villains" in the immigration debate, but none have turned out to be as odious as Lindsey Graham. From his speech before La Raza to his temper tantrum on the floor of the Senate, Graham has upped the rhetorical ante each time he opens his mouth.

What I don't get is this - if the immigration debate is all but over and they have the votes, why does Graham feel he has to resort to such low tactics? Is it because he can't help himself, or is the amnesty caucus feeling the unpopularity?

You would think, given how this debate has all but doomed McCain's presidential bid, the Senate would get the hint and stop defying and insulting its base.

The fight isn't over yet, though, so keep those letters and phone calls aimed at the Congresscritters.
