Ridley Scott, Russell Crowe Team Up For Robin Hood Rehash -- In Which Robin Hood Is the Bad Guy, And Nottingham the Hero
Okay, Ayn Rand just had a full-body posthumous orgasm, given that she considers the commie-symp Robin Hood one of the most disgusting "heroes" of human legend.
But while I like Ridley Scott okay (too bad he can't restrain himself like his brother) and think Crowe's a good actor, I'm sorry, but this is just a dumb idea.
I was annoyed when Jim Phelps turned out to be the evil mastermind in the Mission Impossible movie. (The guy who played Barney on the old show proclaimed it an "abomination.") I was more annoyed at all the hubbub over the revisionist Arthur story, The Mists of Avalon, with Arthur as the bad guy and Morgan LeFey and her monstrous child as the heroes.
And now Robin Hood? The most kickass cool-ass hero, ever? The hero I grew up with? The James Bond of the Dark Ages?
No thanks.
Instead of doing a revisionist Robin Hood, why the hell doesn't someone just do a really good one?
Thanks to herbert.
