Journo Fight! Journo Fight!
Australia:
The ballroom at the Melbourne Crown Casino erupted with cheers when high-profile News Ltd political columnist Glenn Milne stormed the stage as internet journalist Stephen Mayne prepared to present an award.
"You are an absolute disgrace," Mr Milne shouted, delivering a hefty shove which sent Mr Mayne tumbling off the front of the stage to loud cheers and whistles.
Mr Milne was apparently outraged at Mr Mayne's unsubstantiated claims on the popular media critique website Crikey.com.
Mr Mayne didn't back down quietly, and his response of "Thanks buddy, thank you" drew a fresh charge from Mr Milne.
Wow. Old Media vs. New Media, for real.
What I wouldn't give to see Chris Matthews on the receiving end of a flying head-butt from just about any drunk enraged blogger. That would be so sweet.
Or Hell, even another TV journalist...like, say, Geraldo Rivera.
Geraldo could take Keith Olbermann out at the knees and then maybe a little concealed stabby-stabby while Keith writhes on the ground. You know those hothead Latins. They loves to stab.
Or, you know, I might just be in the mood to watch any two people fighting today.
Disclaimer: I'm not actually agitating for no-holds-barred bloody cage matches between journalists, nor would I condone such a violent practice, except maybe to purchase some promotional attire and place illegal wagers.
Addendum: You guys are killing me. Would you believe I totally forgot about that scene in Anchorman? I've only seen that movie fifteen times. Time to brew more coffee.
