Bush Rated More "Warmly" Than Hillary, Dem Congressional Leaders
Whatever the hell this is supposed to guage, Bush has improved since the last reading of the "poltiical thermometer."
Again, I have no idea what this measures. "Warmth of feelings." Whatever. Higher is better.
Look at who's on top:
1) Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani - 64.1 (12)
2) Sen. John McCain of Arizona - 57.5 (15)
3) Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice - 56.8 (7)
4) Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois - 54.9 (54)
5) Connecticut Sen. Joseph Lieberman - 49.5 (17)
6) John Edwards, the 2004 Democratic vice presidential nominee - 48.5 (22)
7) Former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner - 47.7 (73)
8) Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney - 46.8 (69)
9) President George W. Bush - 46.4 (1)
10) New York Sen. Hillary Clinton - 46.1 (1)
11) Former Vice President Al Gore - 45.5 (2)
12) Sen. Bill Frist of Tennessee - 45.5 (53)
13) Sen. George Allen of Virginia- 44.8 (72)
14) Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware - 44.6 (53)
15) Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana - 43.6 (75)
16) Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts - 43.5 (6)
17) Sen. Russ Feingold of Wisconsin - 40.5 (66)
18) Sen. Chris Dodd of Connecticut - 39.8 (65)
19) Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada - 37.9 (65)
20) Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California- 34.7 (53)
Yep. Rudy.
I should note at this point that a guy who I barely knew -- Mitt Romney -- is now ranking much higher on the Ace of Spades Political Thermometer. Not up to Rudy's level, but pretty high.
The more I see and hear of Mitt Romney, the more I like him, and the more I think he could win both the nomination and the presidency.
Yeah, I know he's supposed to be my governor or something. I barely notice local news. In fact, I don't read local news until it becomes national news (e.g., the Big Dig, Romney pulling a Rudy and refusing to provide state police escort and security to Iranian Brown-Shirted Mullah Khatami).
Refusing to allow state resources to aid Khatami is, of course, chiefly a symbolic gesture. But such gestures tell an awful lot. This one tells us who Romney is not afraid to piss off -- Harvard, the NYT, the State Department, the Iranian Mullahs, liberals interested in "dialogue" with maniacs generally.
There are too many Republicans worried about what the Times might say about them. Romney apparently couldn't give a shit less,* and that means he's passed the first test in my own personal primary system.
He's got the X Factor, I think. K-Lo at the Corner was an early adopter of Romneymania, and I'm beginning to see why.
* I guess George Allen couldn't, either. But I'm not really looking for that sort of crap, either.
