Weekly Giuliani Pimping
Via Allah. Worth a read. If you support him, you'll love this; if you're agin 'im, you'll want to know the World of Giuliani Hurt you're about to enter.
A question that always comes up is: "Do voters know he has (previously) taken liberal stances on certain hot-button issues? Do they know about his divorces? Etc.?"
This poll would seem to indicate voters do, in fact, know all these things. They rate him as the most moderate presidential candidate, and, in fact, three percent (whatever that means) to the left of center.
Which is bullshit, I think, and will be even more bullshit when he walks back some largish cats on gay marriage and guns as 2008 approaches.
Still: the public has processed this information, and they still like him.
And of course Giuliani continues to be one of the top choices, if not the top choice, among Republicans in polls as well.
Not just fakey interent polls like Instapundit runs; clearly, Giuliani is popular in the dextrosphere. But in legitimate scientific randomized phone polls, too.
It can happen.
It's not inevitable, of coruse, and many of you may not like him; but for those who are inclined to support him, except for the fact you think he cannot win the Republican primary: He can.
It'll be tricky, but he can.
Full Disclosure: I once got to shake his hand at Ground Zero on the anniversary of 9/11.
It was magical.
No, it wasn't magical. But it was pretty cool.
Good firm grip, polite, seemed like a natural on the hustings. He grabbed my girlfriend away from me and banged her in a supply closet, but I've never begruged him that.
