Jack Sparrow's Plunder

Pirates sequel has biggest opening in Hollywood history.

Wow.

Here's the thing. When I saw the first Pirates movie, I liked it an awful lot. It's strange, but despite what seems like a natural for Hollywood -- pirates, with swordfighting, chandelier-swinging, ships broadsiding each other with cannons -- they haven't made a decent pirate movie since Captain Blood, and oh, by the way, that sucked too, I don't care what anyone says.

So they finally made a good pirate movie.

But -- have any of you watched it again?

Rewatching the movie is... well, not quite painful, but you do sit there wondering what on earth you found so charming about it the first time around. And the ending, which was overly-busy and overly plotty and draggged on first viewing now seems interminable.

Another thing... I don't want to have to turn in my Heterosexual Membership Card, but on first viewing, Keria Knightly was supernova-hot. On watching it again... eh.

Reviews for the sequel have said stuff like there's so much going on in this movie you eventually sort of enjoy it, but you feel "bullied" into it.

I'm sure I'll see it, but, as with Superman, I don't really feel the urgency of seeing it.
