How Anti-American are the Frogs?
Even the Germans think they are Anti-American!
It seems that the Nazis and Vichy got together recently to write a new textbook on history starting right after the end of WWII.
Apparently they were able to easily come to agreement on everything in the last 60 years, except for one thing. You guessed it - good old Uncle Sam.
Paradoxically it was not World War II which provided the main topic of debate, but the US role in the world since 1945, the newspaper said.
It quoted Guillaume Le Quintrec, co-director of the project, who said "the French found the Germans to be pro-American and the Germans found our viewpoint anti-American".
Heated discussions, in which each word was carefully considered, resulted in a text which both sides judged to be "balanced".
Oh, there was one other little bone of contention. Froggy felt that Fritz was a tad too harsh in criticizing the "former people's democracies in Central Europe." Or as we like to say on Planet Earth, the totalitarian communist dictatorships which were liberated in 1989 thanks to the presence of American and British troops (not French) in western Europe since those countries were liberated by American and British troops (not French.)
One last thing. The project was initiated by Jacques ChIraq, who was responsible for building a nuclear bomb factory for Saddam Hussein. And Gerhard Schroeder, who after getting kicked out of office, took a job for 250,000 Euros a year as Vladimir Putin's personal whore.
