Does Anyone Know Where I Can Find A Picture Of A Water-Skiin' Orang-Utan? »

Didn't Tom Ridge Say Something About Having Three Days Of Food And Water In Case of Emergency?
And didn't the unhinged left mock him mercilessly for his suggestion that duct tape be part of his disaster preparedness kit?
Cold Fury seems to remember just that. And he quotes lefty bloggers accusing him of fearmongering and general silliness.
This is a constant pattern with the left-- they constantly denigrate the need for disaster/terrorism preparedness ("I question the timing" is always popular) and then shrilly cry "Why wasn't more done?" when tragedy strikes.
Can't have it both ways, guys. Can't have it both ways.
BTW, I grow weary of hearing about how the "poor can't afford to stockpile food." There are some truly with not a cent to their name, but most poor can buy, for example, rice, beans, tuna, and bottled water.
And yes, you can't cook rice without gas or electricity, but you can allow it to sit in water for a long while until it soaks it in and becomes edibly softened.
Most people, no matter how poor, have some crap in their closets they've never bothered to eat but can in a pinch. Olives, crackers, Uncle Ben's rice, hell, even some chopped clams for that chowder you never actually made... they're all sitting up there, gathering dust, but able to be eaten if you can't eat anything else.
Hell, it beats cannibalism.
I don't get how the fact that many didn't bother to buy $30 worth of very cheap (not very tasty, maybe, but cheap and nutritious) food before the hurricane is Bush's fault.
