The LA Times Did Something Remarkable: It Biased-Up Its Lead Graf

Now that's good bias:

WASHINGTON — The president invited the small group of Republican congressmen to his living room on the second floor of the White House — not the formal offices he usually presides over — to talk about Social Security. While his guests sipped soda and munched peanuts, he did something even more remarkable.

He listened to them. He took criticism from them. For the better part of an hour, President Bush — who has been accused of taking a "my way or the highway" approach to Congress — was all ears.

President Bush held a top level meeting with White House staffers on Tuesday. Halfway through the meeting, the president, who has been accused by some critics of having the IQ of a damp athletic sock, shocked attendees by picking up a staff memo and reading it aloud.

"He not only read it," an anonymous staffer marveled, "but appeared to comprehend the written word. I saw his brow furrow at one point, so I could tell he was processing the information."

Or pretending to, at least. Sometimes my dog used to watch MacNeill/Lehrer with me, but I'm pretty sure she was just trying to curry favor and wheedle me out of a few of my Combos.
