The Morning Report — 3/16/23

staypuftlindsey.jpg

Good morning, kids. So, Greta Thunberg, aka Scoldilocks, the moderately-retarded troll whom the Left uses as shield and cudgel to make you submit to the climate change myth has reportedly deleted a tweet from five years ago claiming, and I quote:

“A top climate scientist is warning that climate change will wipe out all of humanity unless we stop using fossil fuels over the next five years.”

I'm not going to respond here with snark and derision (who opened for Seals and Crofts on the Midnight Special in '74) because, truth be told, all things considered, I was kind of hoping for that prediction to come true. Mostly in areas of Democrat influence, but I digress. If humanity is actually wiped out this year or very soon thereafter, it won't be because of a hoax perpetrated to scare us into building a mass grave to the 11th century. It will be because of the greed- and arrogance-induced insanity of people wanting armageddon for fun and profit. Mostly the latter. I give you the absolute stupidity of Lindsay Graham:

Reacting to the apparent downing of an unmanned U.S. drone over the Black Sea by two Russian Su-27 aircraft, Graham suggested firing down any Russian aircraft that approaches an American asset over international waters.

“Well, we should hold them accountable and say that, ‘If you ever get near another U.S. asset flying in international waters, your airplane will be shot down,’” Graham proclaimed.

“What would Ronald Reagan do right now? He would start shooting Russian planes down if they were threatening our assets,” he added.

Um, no. He wouldn't. The fact that this figurative and likely literal cocksucker would suggest that is insulting beyond description. While doubtless we always have had surveillance aircraft patrolling in international waters close to our enemies, as well as spy planes and satellites photographing and snooping every square foot of their territories, this was an unwarranted provocation on our part, knowing full well the heightened tensions over the past year, and even before. To his credit, and no doubt as a way to burnish his foreign policy credentials prior to an expected announcement of his candidacy for 2024, Ron DeSantis stated the obvious:

“While the U.S. has many vital national interests — securing our borders, addressing the crisis of readiness within our military, achieving energy security and independence, and checking the economic, cultural, and military power of the Chinese Communist Party — becoming further entangled in a territorial dispute between Ukraine and Russia is not one of them,” DeSantis said in a statement. “The Biden administration’s virtual ‘blank check’ funding of this conflict for ‘as long as it takes,’ without any defined objectives or accountability, distracts from our country’s most pressing challenges. Without question, peace should be the objective.”

He continued, “The U.S. should not provide assistance that could require the deployment of American troops or enable Ukraine to engage in offensive operations beyond its borders. F-16s and long-range missiles should therefore be off the table. These moves would risk explicitly drawing the United States into the conflict and drawing us closer to a hot war between the world’s two largest nuclear powers. That risk is unacceptable.”

Putting aside an abhorrence of war, as well as my personal dislike and distaste for Vladimir Putin, his invasion of Ukraine is none of our damned business. Never was and never will be. The phraseology might understate it but Ron DeSantis is absolutely correct when he states that this is a "border dispute" between Russia and Ukraine. The fact is it's been going on for hundreds of years between two peoples, though closely linked nevertheless regard each other as distinct, and with suspicion as well as enmity. Fools like Lindsay Graham as well as the faculty lounge circle-jerkers of Foggy Bottom who view the world through the navel-gazing lens of self-loathing and hubris as to how the world ought to work are blind to it.

Plain and simple, it IS a border dispute that we have zero national interest in getting involved, not least of which the potential to escalate into a situation with a nation that has a few thousand nuclear warheads on ICBMs that might still be aimed at us. And, in the immortal intonations of Jack Woltz, "Let me be even more frank with you!" Had the assholes in Foggy Bottom as well as both Bill Clinton and Dubya not promised to guarantee Ukraine's security in exchange for dismantling the ex-Soviet Union's nukes on its territory post the collapse of that nation and, more crucially not blatantly reneged on its promise to the Russian Federation not to expand NATO eastward, this war might not have even started in the first place. Ditto and for sure, had the assholes not rigged 2020 and overthrown the government because of "mean Tweets." But that's Monday morning quarterbacking.

Another factor that I think is not a minor one in this whole confrontation with Putin is the fact that Hillary Clinton and the intelligence community manufactured out of whole cloth the hideous smear camp against Trump that Vladimir Putin and he colluded to sabotage her 2016 campaign and that Trump is a Russian agent run directly by Putin. That titanic, hideous bromide has made warmongers out of peaceniks (ironically against a nation they once supported wholeheartedly when it was the Marxist mothership) and allied them with the very same neocons they were shouting "No Blood For Oil!" against Dubya, et al.

Predictably, the commonsense remarks evoked ire from Washington’s biggest neocons, who have emotionally latched themselves onto Ukraine and Zelensky like a magnet to a refrigerator.

“Whelp DeSantis just threw in with the crazies. Talk about a misread,” whined former GOP congressman and Jan. 6 Committee performance artist Adam Kinzinger.

“DeSantis actually called Russia’s grotesque, aggressive invasion of a sovereign country a ‘territorial dispute.’ Now both front-runners for the GOP nomination are weaker on Russian aggression than Joe Biden,” said neocon and renowned pearl-clutcher David French. “Astonishing. Dangerous.”

Other neocons to voice their irrelevant disapproval with DeSantis’ remarks include Bill Kristol, David Frum, and Jonah Goldberg, among others.

In addition to DeSantis, other potential 2024 GOP presidential primary contenders to respond to Carlson’s inquiry include former President Donald Trump, who argued it is “far more important” to “support regime change in the United States” than in Russia and voiced support for a negotiated peace settlement.

Former Vice President Mike Pence, however, took the opposite position from Trump and DeSantis, writing the U.S. is “paying the Ukrainians to fight Russia so we won’t have to fight Russians ourselves.” In his statement, Pence went on to claim the “talk of nuclear war is a bullying tactic” used by Putin to launch the invasion and that there “is no room for Putin apologists in the Republican Party.”

Out of all of these lowlifes, as well as bipedal amoebic dysentry like Joy Behar engaging in hilarious, un-self-aware projection that DeSantis and Trump are . . .

“. . . extremely naive and stupid” for thinking Russian President Vladimir Putin will stop his military advancements with the invasion of Ukraine.

. . . Mike Pence should shut his fork-tongued, backstabbing cakehole. You're an irrelevant, RINO stooge with no shot in hell. I smelled a rat after your RFRA cave and shook my head when Trump picked you as veep. As bad as Reagan choosing Bush Sr. Maybe worse in some regards.

And that brings me to Trump. I realize that politics ain't beanbag but he is making a huge mistake in his attacks on DeSantis, insofar as calling him names. The two of them are right on so many things from trade and the economy to the cultural rot to this rush to get our hair mussed to preserve protect and defend the Deep State grift in Kiev.

I wish Trump would just run on things like his electrifying trade package, as well as opposition to this insane rush to war in Ukraine instead of the name-calling. Worse, making the stolen 2020 election the centerpiece of your entire campaign. It should never be forgotten, nor forgiven. But it is now an historical event that is etched forever in diamond-encrusted iridium. You probably will not or cannot run with DeSantis and vice versa. But the DeSanctimonius thing and name-calling is stale and a turnoff. And now an ethics complaint against the DeSantis campaign? Gevalt.
