Howdy, Y'all! Welcome to the wondrously fabulous Gun Thread! As always, I want to thank all of our regulars for being here week in and week out, and also offer a bigly Gun Thread welcome to any newcomers who may be joining us tonight. Howdy and thank you for stopping by! I hope you find our wacky conversation on the subject of guns 'n shooting both enjoyable and informative. You are always welcome to lurk in the shadows of shame, but I'd like to invite you to jump into the conversation, say howdy, and tell us what kind of shooting you like to do!

Holy Shitballs! How in the ever-loving Hell did it get to be the 2026 TXMoMe Discussion and Analysis Edition? That's right, guys and gals, another fabulous TXMoMe is in the books. Please consider this an open thread to discuss and analyze your TXMoMe experience!

I'm writing this on the 13th so the event hasn't occurred yet, although I am now within striking distance of Corsicana. Future Weasel assures me it was a great time, as always. So, in the spirit of taunting those who chose not to attend, please consider the following conversation starters:

10/18/26 Update
Yikes! was that a good time, or what? I just finished day 1 of the drive home and wanted to share some thoughts.

First, huge thank you to Ben Had, Rancher Bob and Cow Horse Queen for organizing and hosting the TXMoMe. Next, a big shout out to all those who created and executed the menu of outstanding food over two days. I'm still full! Next, an extra-bigly thank you to all the RSO's who spent two days on the handgun and rifle ranges keeping everyone safe and having a great time. Next, a shout out to our pal rhomboid for donating two nice boxes of cigars for the cool kids to enjoy, and to everyone who brought drinks and snacks and desserts for the group to share. Finally, thanks to all of the Morons who attended and continue to make the event the highlight of my year. Thank you!

A note about sources. The brick & mortar/online divide exists with cigars, as with guns, and most consumer products, with respect to price. As with guns - since both are "persecuted industries", basically - I make a conscious effort to source at least some of my cigars from my local store(s). It's a small thing, but the brick & mortar segment for both guns and tobacco are precious, and worth supporting where you can. And if you're lucky enough to have a good cigar store/lounge available, they're often a good social event with many dangerous people of the sort who own scary gunz, or read smart military blogs like this one. -rhomboid
