The Mystery of the Talarico Disappearance

There's a lot of speculation going on, which, unlike in the case of the Charlie Kirk murder, is completely justified because we have a legitimate mystery which James Talarico refuses to resolve himself.

I say it's the AIDS Crazies, but other people have their own theories.

The big theory is, of course, that James Talarico had a mental health crisis and checked himself in to an Ohio mental health facility.

Is there evidence for this? Well, some. A private plane flew from Austin to an airfield close by the Lindner Center of Hope in Mason, Ohio. Which itself is interesting because that mental health facility was used by one of Talarico's friends and close political supporters.

Caroline Wren @CarolineWren

What are the chances that a private plane took off from Austin and flew to tiny Hamilton airport in Ohio which is 20 mins from the Lindner Center, a private inpatient mental health treatment facility, and then turned around and flew back to Austin landing yesterday morning at 10:24am right before James Talarico magically reappears at the Austin City Limits music festival that afternoon? Lindner Center also happens to be the same facility that Talarico's good friend and Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo spent 7 weeks in when she had a mental breakdown 3 years ago...

Of course, the big huge evidence is that reporters called the mental health facility in question and a representative there confirmed Talarico had been treated there, but had just been released.

Now the hospital is denying this, but the original admission is on audiotape, and one can imagine that if they unwisely disclosed Talarico's presence there they would have to scramble to deny it due to rules about patient confidentiality.

The nation's Democrat Propaganda Outfit of Record says trust us, we have secret evidence we can't share that Talarico has just been at home for some of these past 12 days.

There are many problems here:

1, that doesn't prove that he didn't check himself into a mental health facility. Even taking that as true, we could only conclude he wasn't at a mental health facility for 8 of the 12 days. Self check-ins to mental health facilities are often short stays of 48 hours or 72 hours, my extensive experience in reading detective fiction tells me.

2, this "evidence" is shared by intense partisans -- the campaign itself -- and cannot be trusted. Nor can the intense partisans at the NYT, who will not share the information.

3, even if the claim were true, that would not explain why a 37 year old "man" disappears from the campaign trail for 12 straight days in the closing hours of the campaign to make photo collages and put together his own look books.

4, another reporter says it's not true, and no one has seen anyone at Talarico's home since the disappearance:

Talarico's own claims are varied and contradictory:

This should be the easiest thing in the world for him to clear up -- and yet he can't, or won't.

Talarico's paid army of online bots is threatening anyone who talks about the AIDS Crazies:

Shipwreckedcrew @shipwreckedcrew

The Memo has gone out to the Lib Influencers:

"Knock this story down by posting that everyone is going to get sued for posting rumors about Talarico."

Hey Libs -- it would not be so hard to decipher your coordinated messaging if you all could resist the urge to post the same thing at the same time.

"Coordinated Messaging" = False = Propaganda.

Is there evidence he employs an army of paid bots and influencers? Why yes there is!

As if Talarico's campaign isn't already having a bad day, a New York Times report released Sunday says dozens of TikTok accounts were paid $4 per 1,000 views to post positive clips about him. The company behind the payments is Frontier Media. Naturally his campaign says it had nothing to do with it. The money Frontier Media used to pay for pro-Talarico social content had to come from somewhere.

These paid "clippers" weren't a tiny side effort. They accounted for nearly a quarter of the Talarico-related videos the Times looked at in a 24-hour window. The money's source is still unclear and Frontier Media has no visible FEC filings. The campaign's denial is noted, but the volume of paid content is not. Follow the money is the obvious course of action. Between today's blockbuster mental health facility claims and now this NYT article on paid support for Talarico, it's unthinkable that his campaign survives the week let alone a debate or election.

Organic support is one thing. A network of accounts getting paid by the view to flood the platform with positive clips is another. Voters can tell the difference. The appearance of a spontaneous online army collapses once the payments are documented. That's what the Times just did.

It should be mentioned that a man in the U.S. just got sentenced to jail for artificially creating consumption of his AI songs on streaming services. There should be similar penalties for artificially creating support for a political candidate, without disclosing it, on social media. The fraud is for profit. In the streaming case financially, in the Talarico case politically and also financially. Both are clearly immoral and should be criminal.
