Don't Call Them Somali Gangs. Call Them Well-Armed Doctors and Engineers.

The Somali community, and the left generally, continues to rage that Somali gang members are called Somali gang members. They want them called "American" gang members. And they insist that the problem isn't Somalis, it's just guns.

Violence tied to Somali-American gangs in the Twin Cities metro erupted in recent days, with law enforcement recovering nearly 100 casings after a gunfight captured on a resident's surveillance camera -- as officials warn they need help to contain the problem before it escalates.

Video of that shootout below. When you have a Somali tribal beef that involves shooting one hundred bullets next to suburban bedrooms where children are sleeping, people's indulgence of endless migrant crime begins to run out.

The warning follows a burst of violence across several Twin Cities suburbs -- including a Bloomington shootout that left nearly 100 shell casings and another shooting in Eden Prairie -- as law enforcement says the incidents have entered a retaliation cycle and officials race to disrupt the groups before the violence evolves into more entrenched drug- and money-driven crime.

"We have the opportunity to fix it," Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher said of a surge in Somali gang violence across the Twin Cities -- but warned authorities could be facing a much more difficult problem if the groups escalate the resources they use.

"It's early. Once they evolve into drugs, we're in trouble. Once they evolve into money, more money, we are in trouble," said Fletcher, whose county is anchored by St. Paul and runs along the west bank of the Mississippi River.

Fletcher estimated that about 300 juveniles are involved and said part of the problem lies in the Somali gangs' relative novelty to local law enforcement and what he characterized as a reluctance to aggressively prosecute offenders across the river in Minneapolis.

"We need more people focused on this problem. Because 50 kids in this 300 need to go to jail, 25 need to be prosecuted by the feds for RICO and and another 25 need to be prosecuted at the local level. Take 50 of the most active out of the mix, and we will see dramatic changes," he said.

But the lesbian tank operating as Hennepin County's DA says that we shouldn't resort to simplistic answers like putting criminals in jail.

He ascribed some of the reticence to neighboring Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty, saying she has not been sufficiently "aggressive" in prosecuting such offenders.

"One of the misconceptions is that somehow when you prosecute people, put them in jail that you're destituting them to some terrible life. This is how kids get corrected," he said.

Moriarty's office pushed back on the assertion, with spokesman Daniel Borgertpoepping saying the neighboring communities are "looking for solutions" and that Moriarty's prosecutors "communicate daily with law enforcement [and] will participate in any group that moves us toward sustainable public safety."

"The way we approach prosecution of violent crime is consistent regardless of the race or ethnicity of those involved," Borgertpoepping said.

Uh-huh.

Citizens know this is bullshit. One railed against the endless flow of obfuscatory left-wing bullshit to hide the real problem.

"We don't need more virtue signaling, yard signs, DEI initiatives, or community conversations that lead to nowhere. We need competent government, accountability, and safe neighborhoods," he said, also blaming Moriarty's office for "refu[sing]" to properly address the issue.

He also suggested officials have sometimes generalized the ethnicity of those involved, remarking that it "feels more comfortable for some people to say East African. I don't even know that that's a fair term, because 98% of these gang members are Somalians."

Yesterday I mentioned a police chief stating that these gangland shootouts aren't even about money or drugs (yet). They're just well-off teenagers who are devolving to the Somali preference for internecine warfare.

In nearby Bloomington, where about 100 casings were recovered from the scene of a late-night firefight that appeared to involve automatic weapons, Police Chief Booker Hodges took a confrontational tack toward the suspects who remained at large -- while warning they do not fit the typical stereotype of gang members.

"They're coming from two parent homes, living in apartment buildings with $3,500 a month rent, driving Beamers and Mercedes. They're not dealing with money. There's no drugs in the house. They're purchasing legal firearms," he said.

Michele Tafoya, running to be a senator from Minnesota, is campaigning on the issue.

The Republican Senate nominee in Minnesota is sounding the alarm about crime levels in the state amid a wave of Somali gang violence and a foiled terror plot by an American born to Somali parents.

"I hear a lot of concerns from Minnesotans on the campaign trail about crime, and no matter what form that crime takes, Minnesotans know that they feel under a level of threat that has increased lately here in Minnesota, and in the last week and just today," Michele Tafoya, running as a Republican against Minnesota's Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, told Fox News Digital on Wednesday. "We saw the arrest of an 18-year-old Somali American citizen to Somali parents arrested for a terrorist -- planning a terrorist attack -- at the Mall of America during a Hmong celebration."

The FBI alleges Mohamud had digital communications beginning in December 2024 with a confidential human source he believed was a member of al-Shabaab, a Somali Islamist terror group and offshoot of ISIS.

"I can't wait until I kill kuffar man. October 24 is the day insha Allah," one of the messages said. "Kuffar" is a term used to refer to non-Muslims, and "insha Allah" means "God willing."

The Hmong people are indigenous to Southeast Asia and boast a relatively large population in the United States.

"We have a large Hmong community here in Minnesota as well, and he basically stated that he wanted to take out anyone who was not a Muslim. He also noted that the Mall of America is owned by people who are Jewish," Tafoya said. "And so this was his plan, and thank goodness for the FBI in Minneapolis here and local law enforcement for catching onto this plan and derailing it well in advance. This is a guy who has pledged his allegiance to ISIS. Again, he is of Somalian descent and terror is alive and well and thank God we averted this massive crisis."

"And we have had Somali-related -- Somali gang-related -- attacks here locally in our suburbs at a high school football game during homecoming, at a Catholic Church parking lot, at a gas station, and this is all just really started to peak here in the last couple of weeks. So it's undeniable. Our law enforcement here are calling it out as the product of Somali gang violence, and we've got to identify it, and we have to find a way to deal with it."

"I don't know how you can legislate that assimilation, but we simply cannot tolerate the level of crime," she said. "We've seen it with fraud here. It's in the paperwork that the Feeding Our Future fraud was largely ... in terms of percentage, probably 98%, Somali people involved in that fraud," she said.

"What I do think is any guests of this country who commits crime should be sent home with no pathway back," she said. "If you're coming here to be a guest of this country or to live in this country you cannot break our laws, and if you're an American, you cannot break our laws, period."

This "teacher" thinks she knows what the problem is: Somalis just work too hard and so don't have the time to properly raise their feral children.

Yeah, Somalis are famously hard workers:

About 54 percent of Somali-headed households in Minnesota receive food stamps, and 73 percent of Somali households have at least one member on Medicaid. The comparable figures for native households are 7 percent and 18 percent.

Nearly every Somali household with children (89 percent) receives some form of welfare.

Although Somalis have recently been implicated in welfare fraud, any population with poverty rates as high as theirs will qualify for extensive means-tested aid. The best way to reduce immigrant consumption of welfare is not simply to crack down on fraud, but to reduce the number of new arrivals who have low earning power.
