The Supreme Court will soon hear oral arguments in a case out of Alaska that centers around an airplane, a six-pack of beer and an amendment to the Constitution that traces its history back centuries as a legal expert lays out the potential impact of the ruling to Fox News Digital.

"Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted," the Eighth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution states.

That amendment is at the heart of a case that will be heard by the Supreme Court in December, and Cully Stimson, a senior legal fellow at Heritage Foundation, described it as "the case that libertarians and freedom-minded people have been hoping for years."

EUGENE, Ore. - Eugene police arrested a man after he repeatedly crashed his car into a bank building on Willamette Street, according to the Eugene Police Department.

EPD officials said that officers were called to US Bank at 800 Willamette Street around 10 a.m. on Sept. 24 after reports that a Subaru was running into the building. The driver left the area on foot before police arrived. When officers got to the scene, they found the Subaru parked near the front entrance of the bank. The cinder block siding of the building had a large hole in it, and rubble and debris were scattered on the sidewalk. The Subaru had heavy front-end damage with the front bumper and grill hanging down, and branches from bushes were stuck in the rear bumper.
