Did Sonny Hostin Lie About Being the Holdout Juror in the Butcher of Tompkins Square Park Case?

Earlier this week, Sonny Hostin bragged that she was the lone holdout that allowed the literal cannibal killer called "The Butcher of Tompkins Square Park" -- a man who murdered someone and then cut up the body and gave it to homeless people to eat to dispose of the evidence -- to beat a murder rap.

But now it emerges that she was not the holdout juror -- an unemployed man was.

Turns out Sunny Hostin was lying about being the lone holdout juror who got The Butcher of Tompkins Square Park off on murder charges.

The holdout was an unemployed guy who wanted the $15/day juror stipend to continue, and Hostin is quoted as being upset he got off:

"He knew what he was doing."

Earth to Sunny, the truth makes you look far better than the lie!

Unreal. This should drive her off the program.

She blatantly lied about her role as a juror in this case.

She claimed she was a holdout juror who convinced the other 11 who wanted to convict to change their minds.

But this article written at the time reveals her to be lying.

Grok confirms her true name prior to changing it was "Asunción Cummings."

Nicolas Fondacaro of MRC says the evidence isn't as clear as that NY Daily News article makes it seem. He says that Sonny Hostin was reported by one outlet as being one of the two holdout jurors.

But... even so, she would not be the lone holdout as she says, and also, it seems that the unemployed man was the main holdout, and if she eventually voted with him, it was just to reach a "compromise" with him.
