One year ago today - we lost Charlie Kirk

One year ago, our founder, our leader, and our friend, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated while doing what he had devoted his life to: standing before young Americans and challenging them to think, to speak, and to have the courage to stand for what they believe.

There are no words that can adequately describe what this past year has been like.

We have had to learn how to carry on without the person who was at the center of everything we do. We have celebrated milestones that Charlie should have been here to celebrate. We have stood on stages where his voice should have been heard. We have watched his children grow without their father there to see it. And we have felt the weight of his absence in ways that never seem to get easier.

For the people who knew and loved Charlie, September 10 will never simply be an anniversary. It is the day our lives were changed forever.

And we will never forget him.

One year later, Turning Point remains committed to carrying forward the work Charlie began.

Costa Rican man, 119, seeks recognition as world's oldest person

In a modest wooden home in Sardinal, about a 20-minute drive from Costa Rica's Pacific coast, Jose Flores spends his days napping, eating meals prepared by his granddaughter, and arm-wrestling ​with her.

His family and official records indicate that he is 119 years old, which would make ‌him the world's oldest man, though international verification of his birth date is still pending as specialists review historical documents.

As the validation process continues, Flores' family is awaiting an answer ​that Hellen Flores said would carry meaning beyond their own household.
"It would be a ​source of pride, ⁠both for the family and for the country," she said.
Flores had eight children and now has 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
The world's oldest living person is Ethel Caterham of Britain. Born on August 21, 1909, in Hampshire, England, ⁠she ​turned 117 in 2026. She was recognized as the world's oldest living ​person after Brazilian nun Inah Canabarro Lucas died in April 2025.

Fossilised dinosaur poo contains stunningly preserved feather

A piece of fossilised dinosaur poo contains one of the best-preserved feathers from the dinosaur age.

A palaeontologist found the feather by chance while looking for fish fossils.

Researchers said the discovery, published today in Current Biology, might provide clues about why today's birds are the only dinosaur group that survived mass extinction.

Lead author Jingmai O'Connor, associate curator of fossil reptiles at the Field Museum in Chicago, said there might be more hidden feathers inside fossilised faeces, known as coprolites.

"This is the first-ever feather in a coprolite … and it probably would not have been found if it wasn't for a lucky break," Dr O'Connor said.

Largest bluefin tuna ever caught on rod and reel snagged off San Diego coast

Good catch!

Fishermen in San Diego were stunned to catch a nearly 500-pound bluefin tuna this week — sending the local fishing community into a frenzy.

“We both got a look at it, and we didn’t even say anything,” Markus Medak of Shearwater Fishing, who snagged the prize catch with the help of another, unnamed fisherman, told Fox 5.

That’s the largest bluefin ever caught on rod and reel, according to Medak.

The record-breaking fish was brought to Tommy Gomes’s Tunaville Market and Grocery in Point Loma, which sells to local restaurants.

A representative for the restaurant said that every part will be used — even its spinal fluid, considered a delicacy in some cultures.

Spinal fluid? Umm, OK.
