A sports writer who choked out his own wife is attacking Sophie Cunningham for caring about women's safety -- he's not a fan of women's safety -- and decides it's also "anti-black" to look out for girls in girls sports.

This has nothing to do with race, obviously, except that Sophie Cunningham is white and black racists will take any opportunity to spit racial hatred at whites while complaining about all the racisms in society.

"She is every bit as political as Colin Kaepernick."

That's how sportswriter Howard Bryant described WNBA star Sophie Cunningham in a Guardian op-ed.

Bryant argued that Cunningham embraced right-wing politics by saying young girls should not have to compete against biological males in sports.

Most of the country agrees with Cunningham. According to a recent Pew Research Center survey, 79% of Americans oppose allowing individuals who were male at birth to compete in female sports categories.

Still, the loud, radical minority pushing to erase sex-based competition makes up much of the sports media. That's why the usual suspects -- Jemele Hill, Katie Nolan, Sarah Spain and now Bryant -- have reacted so angrily to Cunningham's comments.

Later in the piece, Bryant also accused Cunningham of engaging in "anti-blackism."

"Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham is now in the act, accepting the role as the right's anti-Black, anti-transgender culture war ambassador, the role originally intended for Caitlin Clark."

At this point, you are likely wondering what wanting to protect girls' sports has to do with race. Unfortunately, Bryant never explained that to us. However, we suspect he realized, early in his op-ed, that arguing boys and girls should share locker rooms is a losing argument.

Either that or he reflexively labeled her "anti-Black" out of instinct. Hard to say.

The left keeps saying they refuse to condemn terrorism or communism because they reject "cancel culture." Bernie Sanders just said this about Hasan Piker's statement that "America deserved 9/11" -- he said we have to "get over this cancel culture."

Um, not in politics. In politics, your words are your policies. Bernie Sanders just doesn't want to take a position on whether America deserved 9/11.

We do "cancel" people in politics for their words. We shouldn't cancel truck drivers or pizza restaurant owners for their politics -- but we sure as shit should "cancel" political candidates for their politics.

It's called "holding elections." It's the whole fucking point of elections.

But of course the left doesn't want to end cancel culture at all. They love it.

They just want to make it okay for Democrat Socialists to call for terrorism and murder.

For example, an actor just got cancelled from a Broadway show for saying he thinks that girls sports should be reserved to girls.

Geno Segers was a widely acclaimed actor who starred in the Broadway production Hadestown. That came to an end this month when Segers expressed the view of the vast majority of Americans: women's sports should be confined to biological women. He has now been fired, even after an attempt to apologize for expressing his own views on the subject. Other actors have expressed support for transgender players without any response other than praise in the latest example of the rising McCarthyism on the left.

This is only the latest termination over the political views of artists in New York. As the song states in Hadestown, "It's an old song. It's a sad song. But we're gonna sing it anyway."

We have previously discussed how private companies can fire employees for public conduct or statements that bring controversy to their business or products. However, even though the First Amendment does not govern such controversies, there remains a free speech issue. Free speech goes beyond the confines of the First Amendment and private companies can engage in censorship that curtails this human right.

The question often comes down to consistency in companies enforcing content-based standards. I did not like some of the comments of Segers, but there is little question that equally strong comments against "cisgender" athletes or for transgender athletes would not result in such termination.

Segers posted statements critical of transgender athletes playing in women's sports as well as the posting of preferred pronouns. The comments were certainly mocking and insulting at points: "If you asked me what my preferred pronouns are and it's not obvious to you that I'm a he/him, that I'm good with he/him -- Surely you don't need any help. I'm not wearing a dress."

One can understand why transgender advocates would be upset with the content and tenor of these comments, including "I don't see transgender people becoming oppressed or being oppressed ... life is unfair."

However, Segers also wrote: "I'm not against anyone living out their lives the way they want, but I am against their rights superseding the rights of other people. That's a little bit foul."

Segers attempted to apologize for his comments after the cancel campaign picked up steam:

I wish to extend my most sincere apologies to everyone impacted by my words. While I never intended to inflict harm, I recognize that the impact of my statements is what matters most. I am fully committed to listening, educating myself, and elevating my standards. I will work tirelessly to earn the opportunity to make things right.

Actors, athletes, and academics routinely offer equally strident and insulting comments about the issue as well as radical comments on cisgender citizens and culture. Those comments generally do not trigger cancel campaigns.

As Lenin said, the important questions are always "Who? Whom?"

You decide whether something is permissible based upon who is doing it, and to whom.
