The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

"We're not meeting the moment!" James Carville

Quote II

“One of the new, soon-to-be Democratic congresspeople, Darlesia Chavalier, supports seizing all properties from landlords and said, ‘Seize the means of production.’ Mamdani has said ‘The end goal is seizing the means of production.’ I think they want to seize the means of production.”

“Now, maybe you missed that in school or missed school altogether, but THAT'S COMMUNISM.” Bill Maher

Quote III

“Important announcement: I am upping my offer, $10 million dollars for a head-to-head basketball game between the defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces and a boy’s high school state title team of my choice. If the Aces beat my team, I will give them $10 million.” Clay Travis

One of the critical technical problems faced by the many proposed data center satellite constellations is how they will radiate the heat of their computer processes.

The satellite computer startup Sophia Space has now obtained a patent for technology it created in partnership with JPL that it says could solve this issue. Startup Sophia Space gets patent for technology that will shed heat from data center satellites

Pray for Wisconsin on election day in November. Having this woman as governor would be devastating.

Francesca Hong stormed out of her kitchen at Madison’s Morris Ramen to become the first Asian American member of the Wisconsin Legislature. Now she’s running for Governor.

Francesca Hong: At 18, I had a mental breakdown. I didn't actually walk at my high school graduation because I had been hospitalized for a week at a child psychiatric hospital. I just felt like nothing had meaning anymore. It was a numbness that took over, and a pain that I couldn't describe. I couldn't feel anymore, and that scared the hell out of me. And I found myself self-harming to feel something.

Marsh: Were you cutting yourself?

Hong: It was cutting. I was diagnosed with bipolar disease. I was taking SSRIs and I'd overdosed on lithium. I didn't know why I couldn't connect with people deeper, and that pushes you into isolation. But in restaurants, I didn't feel that. You see the best and worst of people here. It’s like, everyone wants to feel like they belong. I think a lot of the root causes were in being an immigrant's daughter, and wondering if my sacrifices would ever really justify my parents leaving their homeland to create a new life for me. And I think the people who come into restaurants come from so many different backgrounds and life experiences, and the best restaurant teams take care of one another so that you don't have to think about if you belong here or not.

And who says woke progressives don't have mental health issues?

Better late than never. Tonight's Feel Good Story of The Day.

Florida carries out rare double execution including ex-cop who killed girl, 11

Florida has taken the ‘incredibly rare’ step of executing two prisoners on the very same day.

Former police officer James Duckett, 68, and Dominick Occhicone, 80, both died at Florida State Prison near Starke on Tuesday.

The two men were put to death by lethal injection just five hours apart, becoming the 11th and 12th people executed by the state this year.

Duckett was convicted of the 1987 rape and murder of 11-year-old Teresa McAbee. Occhicone received the death penalty for murdering his former fiancée’s parents, Raymond and Martha Artzner, in 1986.

As Col. Hannibal Smith once said, I love it when a plan comes together.

The court’s orders blocking the law took effect on July 21, less than three weeks after the effective date of the ban. Despite the uncertainty of whether SB 749 would take effect on July 1 due to the litigation from pro-Second Amendment groups, including the National Rifle Association (NRA), Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and FPC, AR-15s and similar firearms that would be covered by the ban were flying off the shelves, The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported in June.

“They’re buying the living daylights out of ARs,” Karen Ballengee, owner of Southern Police Equipment, said. “They’re buying guns as fast as they can get their hands on them.”

Cold feet? More like hot water. Genius Award Winner

JULY 29--Setting fire to the church where you are scheduled to be married is no cure for a bride-to-be’s cold feet.

Police allege that a 25-year-old woman started a blaze earlier this month inside a Utah church as family members were setting up for a wedding ceremony planned for the following day, according to a probable cause affidavit.

After a fire alarm sounded inside a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building in Kaysville, a Salt Lake City suburb, relatives were able to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher and “water from some of the wedding decorations.”

There were six individuals in the church (seen above) when the fire was lit. “The cost of building repair to date is just over $108,000,” police noted.

The blaze, arson investigators reported, appeared to have started beneath a chair stacked along a wall in the church’s Relief Society room. “Under one of the chairs appeared to be items that were out of the ordinary, including what appeared to be a tampon with the applicator on the floor,” a cop reported.
