Coalition of Immigrant-Owned Grocery Stores Will Sue Communist Terrorist Zohran Mamdani for Using State Money to Subsidize Their Competitors

The state-run grocery stores, if they ever come to be, will not have to pay taxes and will not have to pay rent.

They will drive private enterprise stores out of business. Which is the whole point. Socialism and communism destroy functioning systems so that they can present themselves as the solution to all of the problems they themselves have caused.

An immigrant-led business group is gearing up to sue New York City over Mayor Zohran Mamdani's controversial plan to open five taxpayer-funded supermarkets -- claiming the $70 million project will create unfair competition for nearby stores, The Post has learned.

As the far-left mayor announced new details of his plan this week -- including a 30% discount on basic items like produce, meat, milk, cheese and bread -- the Multicultural Business Coalition's board voted to file a lawsuit in the coming weeks to block the pricey initiative, the group's chairman Frank Garcia told The Post.

"The mayor doesn't seem to want to sit down with us," Garcia said, adding that Mamdani "won't be able to bully these lawyers we are going to bring in."

The mayor's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

MBC -- formed earlier this year to create a unified front against Mamdani's grocery policy -- includes 50 chambers of commerce representing Asian, African, Caribbean, Hispanic, Middle Eastern and Jewish-owned businesses in New York.

The nonprofit MBC plans to raise $1 million to fight some of the mayor's initiatives, Garcia said, adding that the suit "should be a non-partisan initiative." The group plans to send a letter in the coming days notifying Mamdani's office of its plans to take legal action.

The funds will go toward the lawsuit and efforts to raise awareness about the plight of its mom-and-pop shop members, many of whom struggle to secure capital, fend off shoplifters and keep up with rising costs including rent and taxes.

Meanwhile, longtime NYC residents are complaining that the communist terrorist has put them on a list of people whose properties will be taxed at sky-high rates -- unless they can prove to the city's socialist satisfaction that they live in their homes.

New Yorkers were seething Tuesday after Mayor Zohran Mamdani's administration alerted them they'd be on the hook for the state's new pied-a-terre tax -- which was explicitly sold as a levy targeting wealthy owners of luxury second homes.

Longtime residents -- some who have called the Big Apple home for decades and own a single abode in the city -- told The Post they were shocked to get hit with five-figure tax bills they believe were mistakenly mailed out, and are now being forced to navigate a bureaucratic labyrinth to prove it.

"Whoever's behind this, who I can only assume is the mayor, didn't take the 30 seconds to research," said Karen Young, president and founder of New York and Paris-based beauty marketing company The Young Group, who has lived in New York since 1972.

She was stunned when she received a letter from the city Department of Finance asking for $43,000 in pied-a-terre tax on her West 95th Street brownstone, which she's lived in with her husband for 30 years.

"Is this a witch hunt?" she asked, exasperated.

"I just sort of line up all of these things and think 'why are you picking on us?'" Young said.

"As a faithful New Yorker since 1972, I find it not only insulting but painful," she fumed, "Is anybody paying any attention, or any thinking, or two minutes of research. Just look me up!"

Young said she went to the DOF's website to attempt to prove her permanent residency -- but quickly hit a brick wall.

"It's a cumbersome process to prove that I'm a primary resident, which just seems absurd. My jury summons come here, I pay my taxes from here, my utilities," she said.

Despite the department telling her the process to appeal or challenge the bill was as easy as uploading a driver's license, Young said she was forced to pay her estate lawyer to get the proper documentation after spending three fruitless hours on the website trying to do it herself.

"Apparently they haven't checked their own website. And I'm tech-savvy!" she insisted.

Yes, the communists say that you can avoid having your property confiscated through ruinous taxation if you jump through their bureaucratic hurdles -- but they're the ones who decide how onerous those hurdles will be, and they profit from citizens failing to run their commie gauntlet.

There must be NO BAILOUTS for New York City or Seattle or Boston or any of the other communist cities after they destroy themselves. The stupid and corrupt will have no other teacher than their self-inflicted misery. They must be made to learn.
