- If what I heard is real, it's a problem
- I think he drops out if it's real, because he's already facing significant financial problems
- I doubt this is a smear, the GOP would want him to stay in

So what is the allegation? It's not sexual assault back in his days at Hotchkiss boarding school.

BREAKING: Politico reports that a Maine woman who dated Graham Platner says he forced her to have sex with him almost 5 years ago despite her repeated objections.

"I remember him grabbing my pelvis and being really forceful of me," she said. "I remember the specific moment where I thought to myself, like, 'This is no longer my choice.'"

Platner has immediately posted a video denying the allegations.

Extremely serious allegations here. The woman says Platner came to her house in 2021 despite her telling him not to. She claims he let himself in, was drunk, raped her over her objections, and ejaculated inside of her despite her telling him not to because she wasn't on birth control.

Racicot said she was torn over coming forward in part because she agrees with Platner politically.

"One of the reasons I didn't come forward sooner was, the huge moral conflict that I had between supporting his politics, but not supporting him as a person," she said. "I just want the truth out there. I just want people to have a whole scope of who he is as a person."

I'm sure we'll be told he's "grown a lot" and "matured" since.... 2021.

The sexual assault accusations against Graham Platner by Jenny Racicot are really quite severe. She says that he entered her home in a blackout state after she had definitively told him not to come. Then he forced himself on her. She cut off all contact afterward.

Barging into someone else's house really puts this in a different category. It doesn't leave room for mixed messages about given or withdrawn consent or something like that.

He can maintain he did no such thing, but I think a reasonable person would find that doubtful.

Note that Platner has yet to release his Q2 fundraising totals, a sign he may have underperformed expectations.

If true, that would explain the attempt to poll Maine to see the best replacement.

The accuser says she would not have come forward publicly now -- except that the NYT attempted to cover this up and sugar-coat his crimes, which outraged her into action. (She had spoken to them without giving permission to use her name.)

She'd told the NYT about the rape, but the NYT refused to report on it, instead spinning the charges as "he was a bad boyfriend."
