The Morning Rant
Here, in microcosm, is the existential issue with the Republican Party. The traditional political philosophy that informs it is so weak and watered down that the immense egos of the leadership has replaced it. Of course one might ask what their current philosophy is, and the answer? The use of power to accumulate wealth.
That the personal feelings of the corporate GOP overwhelms a popular bill that will solidify the Republican party's reemergence from the ashes of 2020 is of no importance to these venal, craven, empty suits. They do not care about the future prospects of their constituents or their country, and the accumulation of wealth and prestige via their positions in a sadly diminished United States Senate is their only focus.
Thune Admits Some Senate Republicans Hate Trump Too Much To Support SAVE America Act
Senate Majority Leader John Thune admitted some Senate Republicans hate President Donald Trump too much to support the SAVE America Act, multiple sources familiar with the comments told the Daily Caller.
Thune admitted during a closed-door GOP lunch on Wednesday that some Republican senators oppose President Donald Trump so strongly that they will never vote for the SAVE America Act, regardless of the legislation's merits, according to several sources familiar with the matter.
The discussion quickly escalated into a heated exchange between Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee, the bill's chief Senate sponsor, and several of his GOP colleagues. Republican Texas Sen. John Cornyn and Thune both challenged Lee's push for the legislation, according to a source familiar with the meeting.
Their opposition is personal, not political, and flies in the face of everything that their voters want. That these pathetic, puffed-up asses cannot tamp down their personal displeasure of President Trump, and do what is best for America is, frankly, disgusting, and the repercussions will be vast.
I too am not a fan of Donald Trump's public personality... his bombastic pronouncements and his ricocheting around many issues. My solution is simple; I will not invite him to Thanksgiving dinner. I will however support him politically, because he is acting in the best interests of America and Americans, and that is far more important than any trivial opinion of his personality.
That this disgusting cohort of faux Republicans allows their personal animus to damage their country is proof positive of the terminal malaise of the corporate GOP, and hopefully Americans will identify them and forcefully eject them from our political process.
And for a template, just look at the Democrat Party! Their personalities are, in the main, vile, yet for all of their issues, the Democrats close ranks regardless of personal feelings and support their platforms, vote en masse for their favored bills, and present a united front. Imagine having to sit in a committee room or a meeting with Nadler or Pressley or Tlaib or Schiff or Schumer or Biden or... Sounds awful, because they are awful people, but the Democrat Party understands that personal animosity has no place in realpolitik, and they are more successful because of it. Perhaps that is because their political philosophy is clear: The acquisition of money to purchase power!
